Geranium cinereum Jolly Jewel Red  has eye catching bright magenta flowers that are held above low growing rosettes of small silver-green, rounded foliage. Suitable for a rock or alpine gardens and troughs, they grow well on gritty soil in the sun. Not a true red but will certainly stand out in any display.

Geraniums are herbaceous perennials and for the most part they are super easy to grow and fuss free. They require minimal maintenance, and, in most cases, you will be able to propagate them by division and have many more plants in next to no time.

Not only are geraniums fuss free, but they are also generally pest and disease resistant. They are, once established, drought tolerant and even slugs, snails and rabbits turn their noses up at them.

With all this in mind, attractive flowers and foliage and long flowering periods what’s not to love about geraniums? They must be one of the most forgiving and enduring yet generous plants around.

Remove faded flowers and foliage to encourage fresh growth and further flowering throughout the season. Keep well drained through the winter months as they won’t enjoy being wet and cold, consider mulching with bark chips. Keep moist while flowering.

I bought two of these delightful little plants. On arrival they were found to be in very good condition with excellent root stock. I planted them out very shortly after receipt. Although still quite small, they are coping extremely well with the recent scorching weather and have produced continual flushes of blooms. Very pleased.
