Description

Due in stock Late April

The golden tinted foliage of Geranium Ann Folkard is produced in spring from a small crown. The flowers of Ann Folkard are as bright as one of its parents, Geranium psilostomen, while its habit is sprawling, like its other parent Geranium procurrens. This trailing habit allows it to happily scramble through other plants throughout the border.

Geraniums are herbaceous perennials and for the most part they are super easy to grow and fuss free. They require minimal maintenance, and, in most cases, you will be able to propagate them by division and have many more plants in next to no time.

Hardy geraniums, also known as cranesbills, are a popular choice for gardeners because of their versatility and easy care.

One of the reasons hardy geraniums are so popular is their wide range of colours and forms. They come in shades of pink, purple, blue, and white, and some varieties even have variegated or marbled leaves. They also come in a variety of sizes, from small creeping varieties to large clumps that can reach up to 4 feet tall. This makes them perfect for use in borders, rock gardens, and as groundcover.

Another reason hardy geraniums are so popular is their low maintenance. They are easy to grow and are drought-tolerant once established. They are also slug, snail and deer-resistant. They can tolerate shade, making them a great option for areas of the garden where other plants may struggle. Additionally, they are disease-resistant and require minimal pruning.

With all this in mind, attractive flowers and foliage and long flowering periods what’s not to love about geraniums? They must be one of the most forgiving and enduring yet generous plants around.

Care & Maintenance

Remove faded flowers and foliage to encourage fresh growth and further flowering throughout the season. Consider mulching with bark chips in winter especially in wetter areas. Lift and divide large congested clumps in the spring.
